OR BAREKET

Or Bareket nace en Jerusalén, es criado entre Buenos Aires y Tel-Aviv. A pesar de su juventud, se está convirtiendo en uno de los contrabajistas más demandados y versátiles del jazz tanto en Nueva York como en la escena internacional. Es a su vez un creativo compositor con un sonido y una estética únicos.

 

Su característico lirismo, destreza rítmica y enfoque centrado en las raíces de los folklores mediterráneos, latinoamericanos y del norte de África, lo convierten en un nómada musical, siempre bajo la influencia de la cultura del jazz estadounidense.

 

Con sede en Nueva York desde principios de 2010, Bareket ha actuado o grabado con una amplia gama de artistas de todo el mundo. Colabora frecuentemente con músicos como Ari Hoenig, Leon Parker, Nitai Hershkovits, Camila Meza, Etienne Charles, Joel Ross, Yaron Herman, Jacques Schwarz-Bart y Fred Nardin.

 

También ha trabajado con Aaron Goldberg, Sam Yahel, Chris Potter, Jeff Ballard, Jorge Glem, Anat Cohen, Gilad Hekselman, Vincent Segal, Peter Bernstein, Hamilton De Holanda, Shai Maestro, Cyrille Aimee, Godwin Louis, Obed Calvaire, Charles Altura , Sasha Berliner y Omer Klein entre muchos otros.

 

GODWIN LOUIS

El saxofonista alto Godwin Louis nació en Harlem, Nueva York, y comenzó a tocar el saxofón a los 9 años. Creció en Bridgeport, Connecticut y Port au Prince, Haití. Fue finalista en el concurso más prestigioso de saxofón Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz y ha actuado en todo el mundo en países como Malí, Senegal, Togo, Francia y Finlandia, entre muchos otros. Graduado de Berklee College of Music y del prestigioso Thelonious Monk Institute for Jazz Performance, ha estudiado y actuado con Herbie Hancock, Clark Terry, Roger Dickerson, Ron Carter y Al Foster, entre otros músicos de renombre.

 

Además, Louis se ha presentado como acompañante y solista invitado, y ha realizado clínicas y clases magistrales en todo el mundo.

 

SAVANNA HARRIS

Savannah Harris is a New York City-based drummer, composer, and producer. Raised in Oakland, California by musician parents, she gravitated towards the drums at age two. Steeped in a jazz tradition, Savannah’s more recent work reflects her versatility. She’s recorded with indie and experimental artists Helado Negro, Kate Davis, Justin Allen, and Standing on the Corner. Her jazz recordings include releases from Peter Evans, María Grand, and Or Bareket. She’s performed with Jason Moran, Ambrose Akinmusire, Kenny Barron, Terence Blanchard, Billy Childs, Christian Scott, José James, and Georgia Anne Muldrow. Currently, she’s been working extensively with Nick Hakim and Roy Nathanson, Aaron Parks, Melanie Charles, Or Bareket, Peter Evans, and Joel Ross. In 2019, Savannah was awarded the Harlem Stage Emerging Artist Award, and she received her master’s in jazz performance from Manhattan School of Music. She was featured twice in the January 2021 issue of Modern Drummer as both a featured artist and a contributing writer. In October of 2021, she debuted her solo piece “With Inner Sound, Truth” commissioned by Issue Project Room as a tribute to composer Ruth Anderson. Savannah was also featured in Sixteen Journal’s “JAZZ” edition, with portraits shot by photographer James Brodribb.

 

JEREMY CORREN

Pianist and composer Jeremy Corren was born and raised in Los Angeles. In 2013 he moved to New York to attend Columbia University, where he studied composition and orchestration with composers Zosha Di Castri, Georg Friedrich Haas, and George E. Lewis. Since then he has performed regularly at renowned venues throughout the city, such as the Blue Note, Smalls Jazz Club, and the Jazz Gallery, along with festival appearances at the Newport and Chicago Jazz Festivals. He has toured internationally, visiting the Blue Note establishments in Tokyo, Shanghai and Beijing, the Netherlands for the North Sea Jazz Festival, Italy for the Umbria Jazz Festival, and more.

 

Jeremy performs in bands led by critically acclaimed peers, with appearances on Joel Ross’s recordings for Blue Note Who are you? And KingMaker as well as Or Bareket’s forthcoming release for Enja Records. He has also joined saxophonist Immanuel Wilkinsand drummer Jeremy Dutton with their respective bands. He regularly performs in duet with vocalist Tatiana Eva-Marie focusing on interpretations of the American Songbook. They look forward to releasing their first recording, featuring songs by Gershwin, Ellington, Kern and more.

 

During his studies, Jeremy attended the Banff Workshop for Improvised Music, where he worked with Vijay Iyer, Mark Turner and Tyshawn Sorey.

 

Jeremy has also had his original compositions performed by New York’s premiere contemporary music ensembles, such as the Wet Ink Ensemble, TAK Ensemble, and the Mivos Quartet, at chamber music festivals such as New Music on the Point and the Valencia International Performance Academy & Festival.
